SERVE WITH US
What makes the Feed a Veteran 5K so special? Right after you finish your race, you'll be able to pack the food that you funded through your race entry for veterans in DC. At the food packing event, we'll be packing hot meals (2 sandwiches and a cup of soup) and care packages filled with hygiene items, a bottled water and various nonperishable food items.
The meals you pack at the race will be delivered to homeless veterans on the streets of DC that afternoon.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
USASOA
In accordance with our mission, USASOA continually strategizes to remain relevant to the changing needs of our veteran community at large. Thousands of veterans who once swore to defend this nation with their lives, now live on the very streets of that same wealthy nation. While accomplishments have and continue to be made by federal and state agencies and other nonprofit organizations, it takes a multifaceted approach combining both awareness and properly funded preventive programs to effectively respond to the challenges and issues facing veteran homelessness.
Winter Survival Kits
Winter in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas can often be a very brutal time of the year for our homeless veterans. It is also a time of the year when donations for vital resources are needed the most. Last winter, over 600 Winter Survival Kits were distributed to our homeless and at-risk veterans, but with your help, we hope to double that amount this year. We have over 500 homeless and at-risk veterans in Washington, DC, who need care, compassion and support.
Operation Reboot
Operation REBOOT is a peer-to-peer support group for all military and veterans of every age and period of service. The core objective of USASOA’s OP-REBOOT is to bring together and facilitate support and encouragement among service members and veterans who share common yet varied experiences while utilizing life-affirming, therapeutic and recreational activities
